SETTLING FOR AVERAGE
After having a great dream, some people see
the impossibility of turning those dreams into reality. They begin to give some unnecessary reasons
why it’s not possible for their dreams come true. Doubt takes over their whole
system. They lose the mighty dream they once had. They begin to compare their
lives and that of others. They lose appetite for becoming great, and settle for
average.
DISCOURAGEMEN FROM OTHERS
I happened to be a victim of this. People discouraged me, even at the
course of writing this book; they told me I was too young to write a book.
Others said I’ve not grown matured to start writing an inspirational book.
These are people I secretly told that am writing a book, so I could receive
words of encouragement, but reverse was the case. Very few people encouraged me
and gave me the necessary support I need. I know of some of my mates that were
discouraged in reaching to their dreams. People that happened to lose hope of
the future, they always think you won’t succeed as they didn’t. Moses was
commanded by God to send men that would spy the land which the Lord has
promised the children of Israel. Of all the men sent, one from each tribe of
Israel, it was only Joshua and Caleb that were never discouraged by what they
saw. When everyone was seeing impossibility, they were seeing great opportunity
(Numbers 13 vs. 1-33). A lot of people
would come your way to advise you on the journey to reaching your dreams, but
it’s only few that would induce in you the power of possibility mentality.
Always tell yourself, that they failed does not mean you will equally fail too.
These set of people will begin to advice you not to go up there. These set of
people am referring to could be your friends like mine, or your parents,
relatives and teachers. Except some people you trust and you are sure they are
knowledgeable about the dream you have, maybe telling you that what you are
doing is different or you’ve got to amend. “Don’t let them tell you it is
impossible, that is what they told all heroes before”-bob Marley. Reach to your
dreams, you dreamt it, you can do it. They may even make you feel worthless.
Deafen your ears to what they say, some say it out of envy while others say it
because they were once like you, but failed along the way to reaching their
dreams. Never beckon “you can’t make it” on the ladder to reaching your
dreams.
PAST DISAPOINTMENTS
Setbacks
and past disappointments you’ve been through should not make you lose your
dream. Nothing good in life actually comes that easy. Those disappointments are
signs to tell you, that you are on the right track. God promised the children
of Israel the Canaan land, a land that flows with milk and honey, a land that
flows with abundance of riches. I have never come across any place in the bible
were God told mosses to tell the Israelite that, there is a wilderness they
will pass through. In fact He never told them that, the Egyptians will come
after them at the verge of escaping and the red sea will be before them. He
never told them that, they will starve of hunger for some period of time.
Neither did He tell them that the inhabitants of the land are giants, which
they must conquer. All he told Moses to tell them was that He had prepared a
land for them. Now, that is the same with your dream, you dreamt to be great in
life. Probably, to become a great in any field of life, but the fascinating
part of the dream which was never revealed to you is that, you were not shown
in that same dream that, you would have to struggle before fulfilling it. You
were not shown the challenges ahead of you, on your road to reaching that
dream. So don’t give up that easily, Push further. That disappointment that is
about to make you give up on that dream could be the last one. Disappointments
are price you pay in reaching to your dream.
Make
relevant sacrifices on reaching to your dream. You should be able to sacrifice
some important things you care about to make your dream come true. You have to
be willing to pay the costly price before you will reach to your dream. Time is
one of the relevant entity you must sacrifice to turn your dream into reality.
You should create much time and give your dream much of it. Drop all forms of
excuses that might arise within you, to make you feel you are not the better
person to dream that. Maybe your up-bringing was too poor. Nevertheless, you
shouldn’t allow such excuses take you off the road to reaching your dreams.
Always believe you contain all it takes to do it.
