The Power of Decisions Making

Great authors and philosophers have always tried to find out and what determines the secret of success and well-being. Some say if you have a great dream, then be sure of achieving something unique in life. But just great dreams don’t determine your destiny. Some say it’s your intentions that determine your destiny. But unfortunately there are millions of people out there on the street, living life aimlessly who once had good intentions towards their destinies. Decisions determine our destiny and not just dreams and intentions. The illustration I gave you earlier on this chapter about the life is like a journey. Now some people had good intentions of traveling somewhere, they even must have had powerful dreams of where they are heading. But they decided to take the wrong bus that will lead them to the wrong destination. They finally end up at the wrong place, even if they started the journey with good intentions. Your decisions define your destination.

The greatest mistake you will ever make is to create decision; simply because that is the decision your friends took, you would end up at the wrong destination. Never make decisions because you see people making such decisions or because it’s the easiest decision. Make decisions that would lead you to your desired and hoped destiny.
Joshua knew the implication of making decisions for others or even following their decisions, that was why as a good leader of the children of Israel. He gathered them together and said in the book of (Joshua 24 vs. 15). And if it seem evil unto you to serve the lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
He knew that you can only take a horse to the stream, but you can’t force the horse to drink water. The decision of drinking the water is now the horse responsibility.

For any building to stand the test of time and endure all the challenges, strong storms and wind that blows to it direction, it must be able to have strong pillars solid foundation. As I've earlier told you, that you are the architect of your life. You design what you want from your life, by making decisions. Your decision can only be considered to be a standard one, when it has a foundation which is commitment and pillar with is action. Any decision that lacks these two essential entities is never a decision worth making.

Be very committed to your decisions, which is the foundation of any decision. Making proper decisions is not just the final stage of approaching your dreams, you got to be committed to your decisions, give no room to any form of distraction. I decided some few years that I would quit from a dirty habit, in fact I wrote it in my diary and signed on it. The habit ceased for almost a month, but when I lost my commitment on that decision, I instantly went back to my vomit. I had to decide within me again and stay committed to my decision before I could overcome it. Making decisions is the beginning of the journey, but the power of commitment keeps you moving.
